How we collect camp data

• Each camp's own website is the source of truth. Every listing cites the camp's official page(s). Some camps were first discovered through public parent guides (in Pittsburgh: Kidsburgh's annual camp guide and Pittsburgh Parent's camp directory); those are credited as "discovered via" only, and every detail was re-checked on the camp's site. Details we could not confirm there were removed.
• Organizations with several sites (YMCA branches, JCC camps, rec centers, climbing gyms…) are listed once per physical location, grouped by organizer.
• We record facts only (names, ages, dates, hours, prices, registration dates) and never copy descriptions. If something isn't published, we leave it blank. Last year's information is always labelled "Last year".
• Weekly prices: we show the 2027 price when posted, otherwise last year's. A per-week figure is calculated only when the math is unambiguous (e.g. $600 for a two-week camp = $300/week) and the original price is shown on the camp page.
• Our crawler respects robots.txt, identifies itself, and makes at most one request every two seconds.
• Distances are straight-line (approx. miles) and are calculated in your browser. Your ZIP code or location never leaves your device.

Map data & attribution

• Addresses geocoded with the U.S. Census Bureau Geocoder (public domain).
• ZIP code centroids: U.S. Census Bureau 2024 Gazetteer, ZCTAs (public domain).
• City of Pittsburgh neighborhood boundaries: City of Pittsburgh, via the Western Pennsylvania Regional Data Center (CC BY 4.0).
• Boroughs and townships outside the city: U.S. Census Bureau county subdivisions.
• Some places with no street address were located by name with OpenStreetMap Nominatim. © OpenStreetMap contributors (ODbL).

Alert signups are handled by Kit (kit.com). We only collect your email address, you confirm by email, and you can unsubscribe anytime.
